The June 2015 Colonial First State Global Asset Management (CFSGAM) Investor Insights report has found Australian investors are taking on more risk in their search for growth, and increasing their exposure to investment property and global equities in lieu of Australian equities. The report includes a special breakdown in equity preference between Australian and global equities. When the Australian dollar fell below parity against the US dollar in 2013, across all age groups there was a clear and strong increase in allocation to global equities which has largely been maintained into 2015.
The Investor Insights report analyses data from the Equity Preference Index (EPI), a proprietary measure of investor sentiment by age and gender developed by CFSGAM and the University of Western Australia Business School, which is calculated using CFSGAM-managed fund flow data for non-advised investors.
